Starting Out

Woke up in a small half-circle shaped valley at the bend of a river. Spent the day cutting down the trees and making new tools, as well as exploring my closest surroundings - anything not to think of what has brought me here.

Had a bit of a scare when I was first set upon by a bone warrior, and shortly thereafter ran afoul of one of the little green folks. Luckily I survived more or less intact, but the fights did take their toll on me and have alerted me to the necessity of finding a food source, and that soon.

As of yet, all I have found is a few mushrooms that I have not dared to try; not recognizing the species I will save them for when I get truly desperate.

Spent the night perched atop a dirt pillar, but took the risk of leaving shortly before dawn to hunt for spiders. I made it through the battles without taking more harm, but it turned out to be for naught; the spider silk I had been hoping to use for a fishing pole was hopelessly damaged.  On my way back, one of the forsaken tracked me down and I swiftly put it out of its misery.

Still no sign of food, although found some more mushrooms. Searching through the underbrush I found a few seeds that I planted - hopefully I will find a way to tide me over until they have grown. Half-starved, I finally decided to take the risk of posioning and made a small stew out of the mushrooms. How this will end is left to be seen.

Spent another night on the pillar, watching as the woods came alive with monsters and creatures during the dark period. On a somehwat happier note, I think I spotted a sheep high up at the mountain enclosing the valley. Food to strenghten me, and wool to keep me warm, might shortly be within my reach. No harm felt from the mushrooms, so I might try to find some more of them later.

Just before the break of dawn, I had my first sighting of a night watcher. The appearance of their spindly limbs and unholy eyes chills me to my bones, but I was far enough away to watch it in the corner of my eye without fear that it would notice me.

My search for the glimpsed sheep went beyond all expectation - a whole flock of white and black ones, and also a few cows! As soon as the wheat grows, I will have hay to tame them.

My elation at finding livestock so close nearby distracted me and the fall of darkness took me by surprise. I barely made it up the pillar in time, but I now know hope!
